Hokkai.
So I had it in my head for a while to make a step by step with pictures on how to make Japanese curry but I was too lazy to do it and I finally said what the hell right. Lets give it a shot. Now there’s really no right or wrong way to go about this. You can’t fuck up curry….you just can’t. It’s a rather simple and delicious meal. So I thought I’d share it MY way. Like I said there’s more than one way to make it. Soooo here we go:
Ingredients:
1 large onion
2 Large potatos
4 Carrots
1 Large jalapeno
2 Green peppers
2 chicken breasts
1 Garlic clove
2 Cups of white rice

The first thing you want to do is mince the garlic and onion so it looks like this. I know my mincing skills are shit but y’know what? IDGAF. I minced as best I could so whatever. I personally LOVE garlic so I added 1 1/2 cloves. Though 1 clove goes a long way,

Next you’ll want to chop up your vegetables into big chunks so that when they cook they wont get all mushy. You don’t have to use these ingredients if one of them doesn’t tickle your fancy. I just happen to like these. The jalapeno is to give it that extra kick. I like spice. If you aren’t fond of spice then you can leave out the jalapeno and replace it with another veggie…hell…replace all this shit if you don’t like it. I don’t care.

Take the two chicken breasts and after washing them cut them up into square pieces like this. Originally I was only using two, but it ended up not being enough and I threw a third one in. I have a thing about washing chicken. I dunno why I just do. But yeah…cut that bitch up into chunks like so.
Now…I forgot how much oil I put in the pot. I eyeballed it…but if it helps I put enough to coat the bottom of the pan before tossing in the garlic and onion and let me tell you HOLY CRAP. That delicious smell of garlic and onion is just awesome. It gets shit goin’, Anywho stir the mixture around so the garlic doesn’t burn and keep doing so for about 2 minutes.

Once the onion turns clear toss the chicken breasts in there and stir occasionally so it doesn’t stick. If you need more oil add a little more. Sprinkle it with salt and pepper and keep stirring for a few minutes.

Once the chicken is cooked halfway toss in the vegetables and stir mixing it all together. Cover with a lid and let it cook for about 10 minutes. Check on it occasionally until the carrot and potato are cooked.

Next you’re going to want to add ketchup. Not a lot just enough to coat the chicken and vegetables. Mix well. I know ketchup might seem weird and maybe tomato sauce would work but I always use ketchup and that shit smells bomb so I go with it.

Once everything has been mixed well add water. Not too much though. Be careful to not add too much water. You don’t want to overdo it because you want the curry to be thick not watery. Just enough to cover the chicken and veggies is fine. After that cover and let boil for about 5-10 min.

Now for the curry. I always use Golden Curry. There are different brands of curry. I always use this one but I should keep an open mind and try the other brands. I just always use this one because meh. They also sell bigger boxes of curry. I used the regular sized one.

Take the pot off the burner and toss in the broken chunks of curry. I used the whole box. Stir the blocks in until they dissolve. The texture of the water should get thicker. If not then you probably put too much water but give it a moment once the curry dissolves. It’ll thicken up. I also usually add a few tsp of curry powder but I didn’t have any on me and it usually doesnt make much of a difference.

Your curry should look like this. And oh boy will it smell AWESOME.

Serve next to some white rice with an ice cold can of coca cola and OMNOMNOMNOMNOM
I’m not telling you how to make white rice because you should know how and I’m lazy -w-
